Style of classes

Picture
The classes at Inner Sun allow you to experience the healing power of yoga through breath, slow movement, postures, relaxation and meditation.   When the body and breath are unified and inspired by spiritual intention you can then connect to your "inner sun" or spiritual heart and create a more focused and calm state of awareness and peace.

Yin Target the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and lower spine to increase flexibility and health of the joints, as well as harmonize the body's energy system.  Great for beginners and students with experience, long-held Yin poses practiced with an attitude of compassion are the perfect complement to your regular yoga practice or fitness program.

Restorative
Relax and unwind with supported postures that restore your energy. Suitable for all levels we will use blocks, straps, bolsters and/or the wall as props.

Hatha  Explore breathing and postures with an emphasis on alignment, relaxation, and meditation. These practices will cultivate a balanced state of mind and body to assist you in freeing the more subtle spiritual elements of your Self to help you reach your full potential.
This is a great class for beginners. Experienced students will be shown more advanced variations to practice as an option.

Vinyasa  Meditate in motion as you move through Sun Salutations, a series of postures linking deep, rhythmic breath with movement.  You will build heat to open up your body and release toxins. Long-held postures will be incorporated into the mix for endurance, strength, balance and flexibility.
All levels are welcome to come and work to your full potential so you can feel energized and as radiant as the sun! Variations in postures will be offered so you can feel challenged yet practice at a level that is suitable for you.

FIRE UP! Strength and Stability  Fire up the core muscles in your belly with breath and a strong abdominal series.  This will also strengthen your back muscles and facilitate a healthy spine.  To top it off a series with optional light weights will tone and strengthen the upper body.  This class is guaranteed to bring you in touch with your center and feel strong in body and mind.
All levels welcome!

Inner Sun Flow This class will dive deep into the asanas providing you space for exploration and contemplation.  You will tune into how the body's subtle energy moves, and help unlock and open your "inner sun" or spiritual heart.  Chanting may be included in the practice and you will be invited to join in or simply be present with it's healing sound.
It is recommended you have some basic experience prior to attending this class.

Temperature We keep the our classroom comfortably warm 78-82 to help you open up in the postures however, we are not a "hot or power yoga" studio.  You are encouraged to use your breath and body to generate heat.

I am not that flexible
I have never done yoga before

Flexibility is not a requirement to practice yoga!

With a regular yoga practice you will gain flexibility, strength, balance and so much more.

Yoga is not about levels but about joining with your own effort and being.  Simply abandon the competitive mindset with yourself and other students and focus on your own practice.

Which class is for me

Picture
Our classes do vary in pace, intensity and heat. Variations in all of our classes are demonstrated for beginners and experienced students.

As a new student, we recommend that you begin with yin, hatha or restorative until you are more familiar with the flow series.  Our yoga personal training sessions or an introductory workshop are other great options.

In all classes, you are encouraged to listen to your body and adjust to your needs.  On some days you may feel the need to take it slower and rest more during your practice. On others, you may feel the desire to work with more intensity.

Please call us at 920-651-1279 if you are unsure of which class to take or to schedule a yoga personal session(s).

Studio guidelines

Picture

The practice of yoga begins before your class starts.  To create the best experience for yourself and others, we ask that you follow these guidelines:

  • Sound carries in our building so please keep voices low in the hallway and when entering the studio.
  • Arrive approximately 10 minutes before class to prepare.
  • Turn off cell phones prior to class.
  • Refrain from wearing perfumes and lotions.  Fellow students may have sensitivity.
  • Enter the yoga room and roll out your mat quietly.
  • Observe silence in the yoga room.  Our lounge area is available for you to enjoy tea and social time.
  • Do not eat heavy at least 2 hours before practicing.
  • Wear non-restrictive clothing.
  • Plan on being barefoot.
  • Be ready to practice in a warmer environment.
  • Plan on staying for the entire class.  If you must leave early, end with savasana and exit quietly.

Kids Yoga

Picture
Kids growing up today face unique challenges. In addition to balancing academic performance, social relationships and family dynamics, today's child is bombarded like never before with song lyrics, magazine images, websites, and tv and movie storylines that emphasize drama, physical appearance, intimate relationships, violence and constantly changing trends of what is cool and what is not. Yoga is a practice that not only fosters flexibility and strength of body but also of mind and spirit. Yoga brings awareness to values such as personal integrity, compassion, and fortitude, giving kids the tools they need to be proactive rather than reactive when encountering day-to-day drama, to make choices that support their emotional, mental, and physical well-being, to see a need and feel empowered to make a difference and most importantly, to fully realize their inherent self worth.
